A common question we get from potential customers sounds something like this: “Well, I’m definitely interested. I want to make the switch to solar panels for my home or business eventually. But when is the BEST time for me to install solar?”
It’s a valid question.6
Timing is important for nearly any big financial decision.
We’ve broken down a few of the most popular or “best” times to install solar for you.
The Most Common Times For Solar Panel Installation
Late Winter/Early Spring
This is a great time to install solar because you can take advantage of the rebates and discounts that come with a new year.
Also, many residential and commercial solar customers find that receiving their tax return gives them a sudden influx of cash that is perfect for the initial costs of purchasing and installing a solar panel system.
This also tends to be a time of year that is less busy for solar companies, so meetings, installation, and service may be quicker.
The warmer months are probably the most common for solar panel installation because people seem to be reminded and motivated by the sun!
It’s also much easier and quicker to install solar panels when there is good weather (although don’t let that stop you from moving forward with solar panels when it’s snowy because it can still be done!).
Making the switch to solar in sunny months can sometimes make it feel a little more rewarding and efficient when you’re soaking in all that sunshine.
Late in the Year
Another common time to get solar panel technology is right at the end of the year.
The reason for this is that even if you don’t have the solar panels installed in 2017, you can still count solar panel adoption toward your 2017 tax return for rebates, tax credit, subsidies and other benefits if the purchase is made during the 2017 calendar year.
We see lots of residential and business customers purchasing solar panels right at the end of the year for their budget and tax purposes.
It can be very financially smart!
Honestly, at the end of the day, the best time to get solar panels is right away.
They begin operating immediately upon installation and can start saving you money before the end of the month.
You can wait for warmer weather, or tax paperwork, or until the busy season of your job is over, but investing in solar panels right now will increase your savings and energy efficiency.
